Third Session of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues

The Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues will hold its third session from 10 to 21 May 2004 at United Nations Headquarters. The session will be opened by UN Secretary-General, President of the General Assembly, President of the Economic and Social Council, and representatives of Indigenous peoples on Monday, 10 May 2004, at 12 noon in Conference Room 2.

A high-level panel and dialogue on "Indigenous women", will follow at 3p.m. in Conference Room 2 and be addressed by Mrs. Njuma Ekundanayo, Vice-Chairperson of the Permanent Forum; Mrs. Kyung-wha Kang, Chairperson of the Commission on the Status of Women; Mrs. Noeli Pocaterra, the Second Vice-President of the National Assembly of Venezuela; Mrs. Mary Robinson, Chairperson of the Council of Women World Leaders, Executive Director of the Ethical Globalization Initiative, former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and former President of Ireland; and Ms. Stella Tamang, Chairperson of the International Indigenous Women's Caucus. The panel will be chaired by Mr. Ole Henrik Magga.
