In the Statement from Santa Cruz de la Sierra Heads of States and Governments of Iberoamerican countries supported the International Criminal Court.
Rulers form 21 Iberoamnerican countries met at Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, on 14 and 15 November 2003.
An excerpt from the statement adopted by these countries reads: “We emphasize the importance of the establishment of the International Criminal Court, as the institution in charge of investigating, judging and sanctioning of the crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes, that affect all the international community. We highlight the election of distinguished Iberoamerican jurists to integrate this Court, like Judges and the Prosecutor, and we emphasize the the importance of the accesion and universal ratification of the Rome Statute".
