UNCTAD XII: 20 - 25 April 2008 in Accra, Ghana

The twelfth session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (known as UNCTAD XII) was held from 20 to 25 April 2008 at the International Conference Centre in Accra, Ghana. Several thousand delegates including some world leaders attended the gathering, under the theme “Addressing the opportunities and challenges of globalization for development”. A Civil Society Forum took place from 17 to 19 April at the Ghana National Theatre in Accra, just before UNCTAD XII.

It is key to strengthen the role of the UN Committee on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and other UN bodies, although the UNCTAD held in Accra, Ghana, from 20 to 25 April has not produced much news.
