The World Urban Forum 2006 takes place in Vancouver, Canada, from 19 to 23 June 2006 and has as its main theme, "Our Future: Sustainable Cities – Turning Ideas into Action". The forum will examine ways to meet a commitment assumed by the United Nations General Assembly six years ago, as part of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs): to improve the lives of at least 100 million slum dwellers by 2020.
