The World Bank – Civil Society Global Policy Forum was held in Washington, DC on April 20 – 22, 2005. The Forum brought together some 200 civil society leaders, government officials, parliamentarians, donor agency representatives, and Bank staff to assess the PRSP process and discuss the way forward for Bank – civil society engagement at the global level. There were civil society organizations (CSOs) present from over 50 countries and representing a broad array of labor unions, NGOs, faith-based groups, foundations, and community-based organizations. James Wolfensohn, President of the World Bank, is scheduled to attend for a few hours. It will likely be one of his last interactions with civil society before his ten-year presidency ends five weeks later and he is succeeded by USA Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz.
