The European Union has made a fresh complaint to Thailand over policies aimed at guaranteeing that the poor are not deprived of vital medicines. Shortly before leaving office, former Thai health minister issued compulsory licences, overruling patents on four treatments for cancer to bring down the prices of drugs.

Speaking ahead of the World Bank/ IMF 2008 meeting in Washington in April 2008, Africa IDP Voice, says it is now vital to introduce another UN Millennium Development Goal that requires governments to prevent the prevalence of internal displacement and put policy and institutional frameworks in place that protect and assist the internally displaced.
