UN Human Rights Council approves Optional Protocol to the ICESCR
The United Nations Human Rights Council approved by consensus an Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR). The momentous decision brings one step closer the possibility of an international remedy mechanism for violations of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR).

International Criminal Court suspends case against Congolese rebel militia chief
The ICC has suspended proceedings against the Congolese rebel militia leader Thomas Lubanga Dyilo, accused of recruiting child soldiers, after finding that prosecutors had failed to disclose more than 200 documents to the defence that have the potential to prove Mr. Lubanga’s innocence.
