Accessibility
On the fundamental issue of accessibility the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities requires countries to identify and eliminate obstacles and barriers and ensure that persons with disabilities can access their environment, transportation, public facilities and services, and information and communications technologies.

Major milestone to promote Human Rights of desabled people
The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities received its 20th ratification on 3 April 2008, triggering the entry into force of the Convention and its Optional Protocol 30 days late.

Ratification of the Convention on the Rights of persons with disabilities
The Republic of Ecuador deposited its instrument of ratification for the Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This in turn triggered the entry into force of the Convention which will occur in 30 days on May 3, 2008.
