HIC is an independent, international, nonprofit movement of some 400 organizations and individuals working in the area of human settlements. UN Refugee Rights Commemorative Site
Site launched to commemerate the 50th anniversary of the United Nations Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees which was formally adopted on 28 July 1951 and has been ratified by 140 countries, with Belarus soon to become the 141st country to ratify the convention.
United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR)
UNHCR helps the world's uprooted peoples by providing them with basic necessities such as shelter, food, water and medicine in emergencies and seeking long term solutions, including voluntary return to their homes or beginning afresh in new countries.
United Nations Relief and Works Agency - UNRWA
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) provides education, health, and relief and social services to 3.9 million registered Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, the Syrian Arab Republic, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
