Donors take step forwards to untie aid
Donor governments agreed that they would untie their aid to more countries in order to include all HIPC countries. This effectively adds 8 more countries to the list of 31 countries. They are Bolivia, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guyana, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Republic of Congo.

As the IMF continues to face escalating deficits and a crisis of credibility, almost a quarter of its 2,400 full-time staff in Washington, D.C. have voluntarily applied for resignations. The actual number of buyout requests was as high as 620, far in excess of the institution’s goal of laying off 380 staff.
