Civil society organizations participating at the UN High Level Conference on the crisis will hold a preparatory event to finalize their statement to the Conference and strategize for their input to the Outcome Document.

This Civil Society Forum is a preparatory event for the UN Conference on the World Financial and Economic Crisis and Its Impact on Development to be held 24-26 June 2009. The Forum will provide an opportunity for CSOs to finalize their statement to the Conference and strategize for their input to the Outcome Document. We will have dialogue opportunity with key negotiators to exchange views. Our goal is to finalize and communicate our message toward sustainable and enduring solutions to the Financial and Economic Crisis. We hold special concern for the millions of people around the globe who are most vulnerable and disproportionately affected by this crisis.

Provisional Agenda:

10:00 Welcome and Program Overview: NGO Committee on FfD and the GSEG

Briefings from Zak Bleicher (TBC) and Barbara Adams (TBC)


10:30 Strategy Meeting

  • Presentations from Media and Political Mapping Groups

  • Civil Society Vision on Responding to the Crisis

  • Discussion on Roundtables


  • 12:30 Working Lunch

    1:00 Outcome Document Dialogue with Key Players

    Conference Co-Facilitators (Invited)

    Member State Negotiators (Invited)

    (4 Speakers planned at 15 min. each with time for Q & A to follow.)

    3:00 Presentation of CSO Draft Statement—Inputs from Forum Participants Drafting Group will revise document based on inputs immediately following the Forum

    4:00 Wrap-Up and Conclusion
