Brave new world emerges from IMF and World Bank Istanbul meetings
The IMF /World Bank 2009 Annual meetings were, as every three years, held outside of Washington, this time in the city of Istanbul. The meetings came on the heels of the recent summit of the Group of 20 in Pittsburgh, giving follow up to several of its decisions. By Aldo Caliari.

Bank Fund Istanbul annual meetings discuss governance, conditionality, tax and debt
Although 2009 will be probably remembered as the year of International Financial Institutions' resurgence, the Spring and Annual meetings have been uneventful. Under discussion in Istanbul were reform of the governance of the IFIs, topping up their funding, as well as their roles in analysing debt sustainability, global imbalances and tax evasion.

Heads up on the World Bank and IMF annual meetings
Civil society groups are organising events from 2nd October until the 7th October. Some of these events will take place at the Civil Society Policy Forum organised at the premises of the official Bank and Fund meetings. Others will take place at the Bilgi University and other venues outside the Istanbul Congress Centre.
